127. :D Parallel Worlds is still one of my favorite LPs, seriously. I love those horrible drawn-out trainwreck ones, and Diabetus is awesome. Plus, I can still always fire up that one moment in that one dungeon with the switch blocks... you know exactly what I mean... and smile at the sheer agony coming off the screen.

Can't say I ever thought to ship it though. But now that you mention it... Diabetus/Zomodok/Oyster has nothing on Proteus/axeil.

I FORGOT METROID REDESIGN.

Oh man, Drewseph was the nicest, coolest motherfucker ever, wasn't he?

[identity profile] eldena.livejournal.com 2008-09-20 09:55 pm (UTC)(link)
Hah yes. I liked how Drewseph was nice enough to go along with the whole thing, and he started out being largely informative and all, and yet after a while he was ripping on axeil with everyone else. Because axeil was just that bad.

[identity profile] lucia-tanaka.livejournal.com 2008-09-20 09:57 pm (UTC)(link)
Oh hale yes. I mean, he starts off just SO DAMN NICE, but then, like, five videos in he just gets quiet and goes, "Goddamn, Axeil, you suck." My favorite moment in the whole LP (outside the finale and JESUS INVENTED CRUNK) was Drewseph taking over the controls, doing a complex move to show Axeil how it's done, then restoring the save state and making him do it. :D

I miss Axeil. Proteus kept doing LPs tho. The Daikatana LP was like LPer Christmas, man. :D Poor Suspicious.

[identity profile] eldena.livejournal.com 2008-09-20 10:04 pm (UTC)(link)
...Well, I can kind of see why axeil stopped. And I have to admit, I stopped watching Daikatana after a while. Maybe it was the green. Fine fun while it lasted though.

I don't have nearly as much time to watch this stuff as I'd like these days. You following anything good currently?

[identity profile] lucia-tanaka.livejournal.com 2008-09-20 10:27 pm (UTC)(link)
Well.... Someone is doing a great LP of Star Wars Rouge Squadron (typo is intentional), Flare Elevar's Spyro series LP impresses the fuck outta me, Cybershell's SONIC LP is a must see just because the production value is off the charts, and if you know LPers, Volcano Style's Sims Big Brother.

If you watch nothing else, go find Evil TIm's Castlevania 64 LP. He is Ben Crowshaw meets Eddie Izzard. Best LPer out there.

[identity profile] eldena.livejournal.com 2008-09-20 10:37 pm (UTC)(link)
Excellent! The only one of those I've seen is Cybershell's Sonic, which is indeed fabu (and Clavius's contributions to the thread would be good enough on their own, heck) so that gives me a lot to check out. ♥

I'd love to return the favor, but the only other thing I've been watching is Mecheon's Ecco thread, and I still need to go back and catch the earlier videos in that. I do like what I've seen though (and it's far from a trainwreck but at least he dies sometimes, particularly in the second game, because Ecco is a bitch).

[identity profile] lucia-tanaka.livejournal.com 2008-09-20 10:40 pm (UTC)(link)
Glad to have helped! Also, if you've never read it, you need to read the Animal Crossing LP Chewbot did. It will freak you out. It's extremely brilliant, possibly the best LP ever done. :D

I still have the painful memory of Trin Triagula's in character LP of Ecco. I can never watch it.

[identity profile] eldena.livejournal.com 2008-09-20 10:45 pm (UTC)(link)
Oyes Chewbot is awesome. Although overall I think his Oregon Trail worked better for me. Either way, though, that guy knows how to tell a damn story.

...And I've seen like ten seconds of Trin's old Ecco LP. Yeeeeah. I'm not sorry I missed that one.

[identity profile] yuliee.livejournal.com 2008-09-21 12:23 am (UTC)(link)
Honestly, PW was the one and only LP I've watched off of SA (a friend linked me to it), but I thought it was awesome. I'd watch more of them (FINALLY FOUND OUT THEY HAVE AN ARCHIVE FULL OFF THE FORUMS) but I wasn't sure where to start.. Any suggestions?

[identity profile] eldena.livejournal.com 2008-09-21 01:09 am (UTC)(link)
Um, hmm. Well, the LP archive's featureds can be a good start, as well as just looking for any games or genres you're into. It's also helpful to get a feel for whether you have a preference regarding video vs screenshot LPs. Since there's a whole lot of 'em and I don't know much of your tastes, I can only give very general recs... Of course, you can always look at my and [livejournal.com profile] lucia_tanaka's threads in this post for examples.

If you liked Parallel Worlds, though, most of this has been mentioned by now, but: Super Metroid Redesign (http://fromearth.net/LetsPlay/Super%20Metroid%20Redesign/) is basically the same thing with more jumping; Kaizo Mario World (http://fromearth.net/LetsPlay/Kaizo/) is always fun (if nothing more, you seriously owe it to yourself to see the video that says WATCH THIS EVERYONE on there) and there's also a Kaizo 2. And about a jillion other SMW romhacks around somewhere, but anyway. Sonic 2006 (http://fromearth.net/LetsPlay/Sonic2006/) which was brought up on the previous page is also delightful, even if the game isn't. For that matter, slowbeef's original Super Metroid (http://fromearth.net/LetsPlay/Super%20Metroid/) doesn't have so much dying but it does take forever, and it's funny and one of the earliest video LPs to boot. And the best SM speedrun. Oh yeah, and there's La-Mulana (http://fromearth.net/LetsPlay/La%20Mulana/), although I just skipped to the Hell Temple after a while for maximum suffering.

For more general video-based LPs, Ouendan (http://fromearth.net/LetsPlay/Ouendan/) (and its sequel) is one of the best in the archive, as well as pretty much everything Diabetus has ever touched. I also liked Black & White (http://fromearth.net/LetsPlay/Black&White/) (though that may be just because Cheeseball's voice is so perfect for it), and either of medibot's Kirby games (though that may just be because medibot is swell). If you're open to a more... interesting... take on your games, Sonic 2: Special Edition (http://fromearth.net/LetsPlay/Sonic%202%20SE/) is... uh.

Of course, if you're good with screenshot LPs too, this could go on a lot longer. (Ultima 4/5/6 (http://fromearth.net/LetsPlay/Ultima%204-6/) srsly.) ^_^ Hope I've helped!
