We didn't start the fire

Exactly as screwed, just in different ways.

The planet will be fine, lots more species will have gone extinct (we might save some that are on the brink now, but we’re losing some we don’t even know about), and barring multiple miracles, coastlines will move inland and extreme weather will get worse/more frequent.

I don't think completely screwed. But completely changed. And a lot more places will be underwater/uninhabitable. Life will be more difficult. More species will be extinct. just generally things will be worse.

It was always burnin' since the world's been turnin'.

It depends on how willing we are to take serious, systemic, radical action early to ameliorate the effects of climate change. So, completely 100% screwed.

overpopulation will probably still be worse but those of us who choose not to breed will probably still be treated like freaks for it. :(

That will never change. It's bizarre.

It'll be completely different but whether or not for the worse or better is still up for debate. If we can get our asses in gear in with science, we may not be able to reverse climate change but we can adequately prepare for the worst it has to throw at us. However, that's just for people with money. I have no doubt lower classes will suffer greatly - we're already seeing it. Unless something amazing happens and the upper classes are somehow decimated. Then the playing field has suddenly warped beyond recognition.

A lot of people are going to die regardless. There's no getting around that. But we do still have hope as a species.

Earth will be fine. Humans might be on the brink of extinction. *fingers crossed*

Doubt it. Plants might, but at this rate, the animals will be dead and gone even before humans.

Except rats and roaches.

We’re fucked. If people think the current refugee crisis is bad, think again. The next wave is going to be climate change refugees. People who complain about the disruptive protests and that people should just manage their own carbon footprint will be mocked in the future when climate change ruins everyone’s lives.

Less than it is now. Someone will invent a way that we wouldn't have thought possible to save us from doom. I don't think we're special enough to be witnessing the actual end of the world.

I don't see how that follows. I don't think "I am alive at the present moment" has any causal connection to the world ending, or any predictive value, one way or another. They're separate propositions.

Special is not the word I would choose.
