If you were given the option to longer need food or sleep

(Anonymous) 2019-04-25 10:54 pm (UTC)(link)
would you take it? If you take it, you can no longer eat or fall asleep, but won't suffer any ill effects on your health, though it might make dinner time awkward.

I would consider not needing to sleep (assuming this means I would never get tired) but I would never give up eating

I'd give up sleep. I have so much sleep issues anyway, so to not have to sleep would be great. I don't think I'd like to give up eating, though.

No way in hell. Sleep time is me time. Especially on weekends. There's nothing better than curling up in a warm bed, having cool, weird-ass dreams all night, and waking up slowly and naturally and just having a leisurely stretch.

Also, there are way less other people when you're asleep. Hopefully. If you're awake, you're available. If you're in bed this better be the goddamned apocalypse OR ELSE.

why? I get pleasure out of eating and sleeping.

No, I love eating and sleeping too much. Sleep is undervalued imo. Being forced to take a break and relax is vital for mental wellbeing.

No sleep! I love food too much.

Re: If you were given the option to longer need food or sleep

(Anonymous) 2019-04-25 11:13 pm (UTC)(link)
Absolutely. I already have a hard enough time sleeping, and imagine the money I could save not having to eat. I really don't see a downside to this.

Do you still have to drink water?
If you don't eat, do you still pee? Poop?

If I never have to poop again that'd be fine.

Probably sleep. I like sleep, but I don’t sleep well at all.

Re: If you were given the option to longer need food or sleep

(Anonymous) 2019-04-25 11:19 pm (UTC)(link)
If it wouldn’t fuck with my health at all, mental, physical, or otherwise, then I might take the option to not sleep anymore. I don’t think I could give up eating, though; not only do I love eating, I love cooking; it’s one of my more relaxing hobbies. Also it would kind of suck if I stopped eating entirely (would that include not drinking water? Needing to brush my teeth?) and stayed my same overweight self.

Get rid of that sleep. Get way more stuff done.

Re: If you were given the option to longer need food or sleep

(Anonymous) 2019-04-25 11:32 pm (UTC)(link)
I'd give up eating, sure. I don't know about sleep though. I mean... I guess if I didn't need it then it wouldn't be so important but... I don't know. The idea of being awake for the rest of my life is really daunting.

Re: If you were given the option to longer need food or sleep

(Anonymous) 2019-04-25 11:45 pm (UTC)(link)
IDK. On the one hand, I have pretty massive issues with waking up (as in I feel like absolute shit for the first two hours of the day, every day, no matter what), so I'd love to not have to deal with that anymore.

But OTOH, I just can't really imagine being conscious 24/7, for the rest of my life, and not cracking up mentally. And I don't really think that's just a me thing, like hasn't it been established that humans need sleep, not just on a physiological level, but on a psychological level too?

Hum.... I guess.

I already spent so little time sleeping and eating is something that doesn't bring me any pleasure anymore.

One thing to consider is how much eating factors into socializing. It would be way harder to hide the fact that you never eat to other people than it is to hide your non-sleeping existence.

(Anonymous) 2019-04-26 01:27 am (UTC)(link)
I would give up sleeping if I could also give up wanting to sleep, but I want to turn my brain off after a long day. And I love eating way too much.

Writers and Dreamers! What are your favorite fandoms to crossover with your favorite fandoms?

(Anonymous) 2019-04-25 11:17 pm (UTC)(link)
Writers or just people who have elaborate fandom fantasies, when you want to put your favorite characters into new situations, what are your go to fandoms to throw them into (Harry Potter is a popular one)? Do you do crossovers (Harry Potter chars meeting the Avengers) or Fusions (Harry Potter is Iron Man).

This month sucks (vent incoming, mental illness tw)

(Anonymous) 2019-04-26 12:29 am (UTC)(link)
I’ve had kind of a shitty, expensive month—lots of headaches, puking, doctor visit with pee test and blood draw, my 35-year-old virgin self’s first pap smear, period from hell, paid property and income taxes, my tv died, multiple expensive vet visits and another tomorrow for a surgery—and yesterday I had all-day mental health first aid training for work.

The instructors warned us parts might be triggering and said we could leave the room if we had to, and would not have to share personal info unless we wanted. Every lesson involved suicide warning sign checklists, and then the last two topics were psychosis and substance abuse.

My dad was a paranoid schizophrenic drug addict who threw himself under a truck on the freeway and my mom was a depressed alcoholic drug addict who drank herself to death after dealing with my dad and three different (the final untreatable) cancer diagnoses and never dealing with her parents’ alcoholism or her dad having raped her and her brothers.

Luckily the instructors sped through the substance abuse section so we could leave early, but the psychosis roleplay exercise involved two people having a conversation while a third whispered paranoid warnings in the “schizophrenic” person’s ear.

The instructors came over and asked why I wasn’t participating and offered to do the exercise with me.

Me: “my dad was a paranoid schizophrenic.” and I thought we didn’t have to explain our triggers

They apologized, but after dwelling on depression, anxiety, psychosis, and addiction all day yesterday, and with my period fucking with my emotions, I feel like a squashed bug. Aside from yet another vet trip, I’ve spent my day glued to the couch.

May better be fucking fantastic, because so far April really sucks.

Random gripe

(Anonymous) 2019-04-26 12:33 am (UTC)(link)
The youngest "millennials" are now over 20, and the oldest are like 37. People who use the term as a catch-all to mean "teenagers & the student youth" are mentally stuck in the '00s

signed, a millennial twice those teens' age

So it turns out that it's possible to be anemic in more than one way, at the same time, and I happen to be severely anemic in two ways at once! WTF, body, how could you do this to me????

(I'm both iron-anemic and B12-anemic lol wtf.)
