112. DUDE. That's exactly why I had to stop watching regularly, too. And I don't know about you, but for me it wasn't "funny" hypochondria, but involved a lot of anxiety and fear of dying. The one full-blown panic attack I've ever had occurred while watching House, and although the root anxiety was due to grad school, I'm sure the show just set the panic in motion. *shudder* (I still watch it on occasion, though I try to fast-forward through the PotW stuff and just get the good banter.)

128. ...You have just illuminated what has long been a mystery to me (i.e., the size and vigor of the SGA fandom). Thank you.

131. ....Or reads Television Without Pity, or has eyes and watches the show. :)

134. I'm with you. Her life has become such a tragedy, one can't help but feel for the girl.

143. Oh, honey. *hugs*

Oh, no. Definitely not "funny" hypochondria. The first episode I ever watched involved some kid who developed this fatal disease because he went into this old house and inhaled some kind of a...spore I think. Freaked me the hell out - and it continued to. So I stopped. I do miss the banter, though. :(

I'm sorry to hear that; that kind of anxiety sucks.

TiVo is a godsend -- you can watch worry-free while House is chatting with Wilson and Cuddy, and then pause and skip through all the actual plot. :)

Less of a "OMG, they must watch F!S!" and more of a "Huh, I wonder if they frequent a similar place on the 'net that I do."

i.e., the size and vigor of the SGA fandom

No joke. I loooooooove SGA fanfic and have only seen maybe 5 episodes ever. The authors are so much better at creating real, three-dimensional characters, the series-writers should be ashamed of themselves.

You know, as much as I love the characters of the show, this is really a fabulous point. It's sad when the series writers are so far eclipsed by the fanfiction...

While the show's writers really have failed in terms of fleshing out all but a few characters (and, god, the hack job they did on some of them, giving them supposed talents and then never using them), I do have to say that part of the 'size and vigor' of the SGA fandom stems from the writers' one strong point--an amazingly strong friendship between the two male leads. Whether people see them as slashy or not, the pure canon friendship between those two characters really is amazing, fun to watch--but a complete delight to write.

It converted me from a het only ever writer who wrote multiple 'ships and rare pairings to an OTP slasher. Plus scenes like this, which aren't manipped. Oh SGA. How I will miss you... though the fic shall live on!

To be honest, I don't really see the amazing friendship between John and Rodney on the show, either (though I stopped watching in season 4) -- but that's because McKay is the only character the writers seem to give a shit about, and they focus on him to the detriment of everyone else, IMO. I can totally believe their relationship -- in whatever form -- is a blast to write, though. Also, the premise of the show is just bursting with potential, as are all the other characters. Too bad the show's actual writers can't hold a candle to the imagination of the fandom.
