151: My love for Jensen skyrocketed after the whole PETJA thing. LOL JEMSEM. Ilu.

166: Sera Gamble's writing made that whole episode awful, but it was worth it to see Jared cry. AWW BABY. I have no opinion on Heath Ledger, so... pointless comment is pointless.

151: For all that's holy, let it go. The only people still talking about that, are people like you. As far as I know, none of the secrets submitted about Jensen are actually members from that comm. We did it openly, with our names attached. And you, yourself, were a member of the comm, so you should know that. Perhaps its more valid to think that the people who are submitting "hate" secrets about him weren't members.

And I'm doing anon here because lord above I actually voice an opinion that supports that comm. I have enough shit in my life, I don't need self-righteous gits like you breathing down my damn neck.

[identity profile] overstreets.livejournal.com 2008-09-21 10:43 pm (UTC)(link)
I never said that the people submitting the hate secrets were members. I've barely even seen any hate secrets. (I personally think that all the Jensen lovers make out the Jensen hate to be bigger than it actually is. Jared gets bashed way more.) I was just saying that I started liking Jensen more after that whole thing went down. I'm sorry my bringing it up offended you.

Um, I supported the comm, too? Why else would I have been a member? But I can see both sides of the issue, is all.

Wow - and you have one of the people that modded the comm on your flist. You're special, shortbus.

Re: 151, 166

[identity profile] overstreets.livejournal.com 2008-09-21 10:44 pm (UTC)(link)
And? Is there a rule that I have to love every single thing everyone on my flist does? Even if I disagree with them on something doesn't make me respect them any less.

Re: 151, 166

(Anonymous) 2008-09-21 10:58 pm (UTC)(link)
I see a disparity between "respecting" Jensen more for his actions against a friend who co-ran a comm you were a member of. It makes it appear that your priorities lie more with some one you do not know and idolize from afar that someone you purportedly know and interact with frequently.

You do not have to blindly support every thing a LJ friend does, but to place his "emotional distress" over some comments on a locked website over the distress his actions caused your friend is difficult to understand. And I would think that openly saying that might be distressing to your friend. It seems to be dismissing her at the expense of someone who does not know you, nor does he want to know you (fans). Meanwhile, your friend that does know you, and apparently wants to know you, you openly revel in her distress. You don't have to side with her, but maybe you shouldn't so openly deride her actions.

Just because I can understand the "emotional distress" of everyone involved (including Jensen, who I actually don't idolize very much - Jared's my boy) does not mean I'm reveling in her distress. I've always been sorry that the whole thing caused issues for those fans, especially since they seemed to be bigger fans of Jensen that I am.

Re: 151, 166

(Anonymous) 2008-09-21 11:44 pm (UTC)(link)
If you can understand the "emotional distress" of everyone involved, then why say "I love him more after the thing went down"? Invoking "more" indicates, by English grammar and popular convention, there must be a "less" - "if, then", "more, less" And if you know how distressing it was to the people involved, why keep bringing it up?

Re: 151, 166

[identity profile] overstreets.livejournal.com 2008-09-21 11:52 pm (UTC)(link)
Because I do love him more. That was an assholey thing to do, but sorry, it made me like him. I always thought he was boring before. If he's offended by something he sees on the internet about HIM, then who am I to say that he doesn't have a right to snark back? It sucks for the people involved, though. But hey, most celebs ARE kinda douchey and I know that. I'm def sorry my friends got hurt, but I'm not going to apologize for not hating Jensen because of this.

I hardly see how I keep bringing it up. This is the first time I remember mentioning it, unless you've been stalking me or something.

Re: 151, 166

(Anonymous) 2008-09-22 12:08 am (UTC)(link)
....you love him more because of the "assholery" thing he did? That's seems so sad. Would it make you love Jared more if he said, "I've read your fanfic, and its really disturbing me. If you don't take it down, I'm going to sue you for emotional distress." ? That'd be a pretty "assholery" thing of him to do, and by your logic, you should love him more for personally attacking you.

I meant "you" as in fandom keeps bringing it up. Something was said the other day about how "the members wanted to hit him with a baseball bat." (actual quote). And you in particular because why bring it up here, at all, in the first place? That's where I get the sense that you are privileging him over your friend. If you think they both have a right to be distressed, then, again, it seems odd to publicly side with him for doing an "assholery" thing.

Re: 151, 166

[identity profile] overstreets.livejournal.com 2008-09-22 12:31 am (UTC)(link)
Well, it's not the last time you'll hear someone liking someone because of a fault. I'm also in the Gossip Girl fandom and I know a lot of Leighton Meester fans who said they loved her even more after they found out she smokes pot. And I don't know if I'd be offended if Jared told me to take down a fic I'd written about him, since it's about HIM and all. I think real person fic skates a fine line, but that's a whole different topic.

I brought it up because the secret was about the person loving Jensen more each time he/she saw negative secrets about him. So I said I, too, loved him more after this negative thing happened, because it seemed similar to me.

I don't know if I'm really siding with him. I respect his decision and I fully understand why he would do it. I also enjoyed PETJA while it was around, and I respect and understand why the people involved would now have negative feelings about Jensen, and I'm sorry that a celebrity they idolized disappointed them that way.

The last thing I ever did was idolize Jensen. And smoking pot =/= threatening to sue.

I just think he lacks humility, and fandom's "Jensen, we luv you more that you threatened to sue those icky girls" is stomach churning to me.

Dear God, someone fill me in on this PETA thing, I'm so lost. O_O

Re: 151, 166

(Anonymous) 2008-09-22 04:45 am (UTC)(link)
Stay lost about it. If anyone tells you anything, they were not directly involved. Only the people talking about it are the people that know nothing about anything (but have convinced themselves that they know exactly what happened). The people directly involved won't tell you anything because its none of your business.

That's lovely. If you're gonna recommend misinformation, at least do it under your own fucking name.

You've also proven my point that the only people talking about it are people that don't know anything about it. Well played.

Re: 151, 166

[identity profile] overstreets.livejournal.com 2008-09-22 03:03 pm (UTC)(link)
I wasn't TOO involved, so idk if this is exactly right but there was a website callled PETJA - People for the Ethical Treatment of Jensen Ackles - and they were just sort of making fun of Jensen out of love, I think. They made this video about how Jensen was functionally illiterate (I'll admit it was funny, but kind of tasteless to make fun of a disorder) and it was basically a site for shits and giggles. (But again idk, some of those people seemed kinda serious in thinking that they were helping Jensen's career... sarcasm doesn't translate well on the internet). But anyway, Jensen served them a cease and desist order or threatened to sue if they didn't take the site down. He didn't think it was very funny, and if it had been about me, I wouldn't have thought it was funny either. (But I did think PETJA was funny because I sort of love making fun of Jensen... double standard much? haha)
