ugh

Just got notified after updating Windows that support for Windows 7 is ending in January. I kind of don't want Windows 10.

I kind of need a new machine anyway. I am living on too little money to budget for one.

I am sad.

Relax, Windows updates are trash and the automatic updater should have been turned off in the first place. I promise you that the functional lifespan of Windows 7 will last you until you can get a new machine. Past that, even - a lot of software developers know 10 is a shitshow and will not require an upgrade to keep running.

well, we knew it would happen sooner or later. that said they can pry my windows 7 from my cold dead hands. I will never upgrade to that touchscreen fuzzy-ass shitshow, I will hold this goddamn laptop together with duct tape and wishes until a new os comes out.

Wow, Windows 7 is still the standard for large institutions like the one I work for. It's really hard to imagine using the trainwreck of later versions at work.

In terms of personal use, I don't wanna give Apple my money, but MS is so monumentally dysfunctional at this point that IDEK what I'd do if my computer bit the dust.

I switched to Apple products just after Windows decided to ditch XP.
I had learned everything I knew about computers on PCs that ran Windows. I wasn't a power user, but I knew how to get things done and/or repair Windows when it went wrong.
The first version of Vista that got released was hell to use, especially if you didn't want to invest in a touchscreen. Vista needed upgrades to play nice with most mice and other input devices - it was that bad.
Apple, on the other hand, had a computer that didn't force you to use a touchscreen - the Mac Mini.

I have no issues (so far) with a laptop that runs on 10, but... I also have a desktop that still runs on XP so...

I got to laugh my ass off at my Mom calling me at work to inform me that a dog we're sitting shat a mountain that required three poo bags. And then he jerked the leash while she was picking it up so it got thrown everywhere.

My inner child is a 12-year-old boy and this made my day so much.

Our bedroom door apparently got blown shut last night so our cat decided my work shoes were the best place to make a whole city of poop. I was completely oblivious so went to put them on this morning and "OHGOD WHAT IS THAT"

Not his fault since he couldn't get out bless him, but we have a big bedroom and plenty of floorspace but nope, shoes are the best spot

Well, something last night triggered the worst migraine I've had in years. I actually skipped half of the classes from today. I've been taking all my meds plus had my sunglasses on. Nothing has helped besides when I could have some ice to put on my head. It is slowly getting a little better now, but I still feel pretty terrible.

It was so bad last night I slept maybe an hour and seriously considered trying to find a hospital here in spite of not having insurance that would cover me in Mexico or knowing very many medical terms in Spanish.

Mexican public hospitals are subsidised by the government and your odds of finding fluent English-speakers at a hospital are high.

Go if you're still hurting.

Decent. Managed to catch a 3D show of Endgame (believe it or not, all the regular morning 2D shows were full... and of course, some idiot thought it was a GREAT idea to bring a screamy, squirmy near-toddler to a 3 hour show with 20 minute previews), did a bit of shopping, and am hoping to complete a project/birthday present for somebody.

Did all the housework and started playing with game coding in Python.

What are you coding :o I made pong in python, that's about it.

Today was my first day off after 6 days of 8-hour shifts, so I didn't do anything, really. I showered and dressed and looked at the internets and now I'm waiting for a friend to get in so we can go to dinner.

Honestly? Pretty OK. I had a gnarly headache all morning but it cleared up around lunch and it's been OK since then. It's Friday, I just got paid, you know, gotta look on the brightside

we're under a winter storm warning for up to 6 inches of snow tomorrow.

I just covered as many of my flowers as I could, crossing my fingers that the trees which just leafed this week don't all come crashing down from the weight of the snow, and I'm drinking enough whiskey to kill a moose.

Sorry yours was ugh, anon. Mine had shit parts— expensive vet visit, pap smear results came back as a bacterial infection, found out my triglycerides are too high so I’m supposed to go on a low fat, low carb diet but I don’t eat meat, so basically soy and green veggies, and also exercise more (than the 6.7 miles a day average I’ve managed so far this year.)

But while I was waiting for the vet to call I went to the zoo and wandered around, and that was fun.

Saw Endgame (no spoilers in this comment). It was better than I expected and, whoa, was there an enormous fricking cast. I didn't actually like Infinity War and wasn't all that confident that this would be better, but it was funnier and sadder by turns, I thought. I won't say I'm entirely on board with how they left each character's storylines (and I still have questions), but, again, better than I expected. Well, for the most part, anyway. So, I'm glad I saw it.

My car is literally yellow with pollen. Help. I'm fucking drowning in my own snot and everything *itches*!

Mostly busy, but I'm feeling better from my cold so that's something.

Not bad, but I found out my car needs new brakes and I can’t afford them until payday, so that sucks.
