Woobification is annoying and unfortunately ubiquitous, but honestly I'm more annoyed by this condescending as shit attitude people take towards these "delusional" fans.

How about being a little more charitable? Like maybe, instead of assuming they're dumb and don't know any better, assume that woobifying Kylo Ren is just THEIR jam?

On a side note, I'm really put off by all these actors giving us gentle reminders that villains are villains.

It's not like any of these actors are jumping into fandom conversations to rain on your parade. Fans need to stop trying to get actors to side with their headcanons and ships, especially if they're going to be put off by the actors not agreeing with them.

Sure, and I get that they're bombarded CONSTANTLY with this kind of stuff. But part of being a celebrity is being able to deal with it diplomatically. Boyega could have left off the preachy parenthetical there. And Ridley could have dodged the ship question with more stealth. I think less of them for taking sides.

So you think less of them for answering questions that they're asked instead of side-stepping or completely ignoring the fans that talk to them. Fair enough.

Oh no, they're human and imperfect, the worst.

(Anonymous) 2019-04-27 10:35 pm (UTC)(link)
idk i think they're probably sick of it, and i don't blame them.

I think she did, though? (I ship Reylo, btw.) She basically said that she can't support Reylo with where the relationship is at the end of TLJ, which is fair. There's a gifset with a lot of notes on Tumblr where the maker inserted the word "abuse" into her answer, which I think is tainting the discussion around it.

If they're just writing fic or producing art or writing speculative meta about woobie Kylo or whoever, sure, be charitable and assume they're just having fun and are aware that the canon villain is, in fact, a villain.

If they're complaining about images centering on the heroes leaving their woobie fave out because clearly he's meant to be there, they're deluding themselves.

DO you really think that the example presented in the secret is really off putting...? Really? Someone is asking why there's no Ben Skywalker (that name a hell of stretch in itself) in the promo pic meant to show the characters who come together to fight against thsi very character? What kind of promo materials does this person expect? What version of teh movies has been playing in their head?
