The sled was on Earth the whole time.

Almost never, most of the stuff I care about is unpopular and the popular stuff isn't plot heavy.

Anime sometimes spoils the plot with episode titles though.

Frequently, I guess? I don't personally care about spoilers so I don't really try to avoid them.

Probably more than I recall because I don't really do much to protect myself? I'm not usually all that concerned about them though. I'm excellent at willfully forgetting shit, and 99% of the time a spoiler doesn't actually ruin my enjoyment of the thing.

The last time I was hellbent against reading spoilers was for The Last Jedi.

The only thing I got spoiled for was Yoda's appearance.

rarely. if it's stuff i care about i will do my best to avoid all spoilers and try to watch / read at my earliest convenience.

I honestly don't watch enough stuff to get spoiled often. I have only gotten purposely spoiled twice in my life.

what for if i may ask? did it inhibit your ability to enjoy the thing later?

Re: How often do you get spoiled?

Somewhat often, but not super often. I'm almost never caught up on the shows I watch and I spend a ton of time on the internet, so it's bound to happen now and then. Usually I don't really care, because if it's something I'm adamant about not being spoiled on, I'll avoid social media/places I know are likely to spoil it, until I can watch it. If it's something I'm not super invested in, I don't really care if it's spoiled. Sometimes I'll read reviews of a book I'm thinking of reading to see what people think and one of the reviews will spoil it. That pisses me off.

Never, unless I want to be spoiled.

on shit I care about? rarely if ever because I lock that shit down. I'm also very good about not spoiling people who aren't as caught up as I am.

on shit I don't have any intention to see? hahaha I actively search out spoilers just so I can understand what everyone is whining about today.

I don't care all that much about spoilers most of the time, so if I do get spoiled I don't tend to really even remember it.

That said, I did kind of want to be unspoiled for Endgame, and lol, yeah right. Unless I stayed COMPLETELY off the internet until I could see it, spoilers were inevitable.

I only saw the topic header and my brain read it as, "How often do people buy things for you or do nice things for you in the real world?" I made myself sad on that front.

Media spoilers, I get spoiled all day every day. I'm a ho for spoilers, even for stuff I don't read/watch. I like thinking about how stuff will play out and then comparing it to what actually happens once I see the thing the spoilers are from. (I'm also the kind of idiot that reads the ends of books first so they know what's going to happen.)

All the time because I spoil myself. I love spoils. I actually prefer to know the plot of somethign knowing in. It enhances my enjoyment.

Very seldom. And I don't mind spoilers as much as most people.

I did spoil a book for my ex-husband once. It was totally by accident as I thought he had finished reading it. He never let me forget it. (I don't really blame him.)

Often, but only because I have no patience/self-control and think "I'll just have a teensy peek." Or I'll read spoilers for stuff I don't plan on seeing then watch it years later and go "ooooh it's the one where this happens."

My dad is infamously terrible for spoiling stuff. When there was a show the whole house was really into years ago he asked my brother (who was an episode behind) "How far are you? What's happening with (character name)? HAS HE BEEN HIT BY A CAR YET?"

Re: How often do you get spoiled?

All the time because I enthusiastically seek out all the spoilers I can get my hands on.

I'd rather spoil myself than to sit through some tv producer's idea of a "shocking development."

Not often

[personal profile] randomdrops 2019-04-29 12:53 am (UTC)(link)
Not accidentally, at least. I will occasionally seek out the spoilers myself, but for the most part I don't watch much tv or spend too much time places where spoilers would pop up.

Re: How often do you get spoiled?

(Anonymous) 2019-04-29 03:13 am (UTC)(link)
All of the time but that's because I actively look for spoilers. I love spoilers; they don't hamper my experience with media but instead make me more excited to see the final product.

Re: How often do you get spoiled?

Unwillingly? A lot. And it raises my anxiety so much. I got spoiled for Endgame 30 minutes before going in because the name of my drink described a character's fate. I remember when watching Infinity War that I spent the entire movie uncomfortable and angry instead of just on the edge of my seat and oblivious, and instead of crying at what happened, I just sort of stared after it was over like 'huh. Ok. well now that's over.'

I know that people sometimes don't get why people don't like spoilers, but everyone experiences tension and suspension of disbelief differently. Everyone has a different preference going in for how they would like the emotions to hit them, too. For me, being spoiled takes away that gut punch in the moment, and presents it to me before and throughout the entire film. It's just no fun at that point.

Not very often. But then again I'm not big on movies or other popular media anyway.
