Granted, I have not rewatched it in awhile, but how so? I never thought that, just that it was incomplete - for obvious reasons. I think the movie did what it could to tie up some loose ends but the extant episodes can't really be blamed for not realizing a bunch of plot elements. Other than that, it felt largely episodic so I'm not sure what was messy about it?

I'm a casual fan of Firefly and I don't think it's necessarily a mess, but I also don't think it's the amazing cult classic it was made out to be. It has its moments, good and bad, and that's pretty much it.

This secret strikes me as kind of odd.

If you think it's a mess, but still rewatch it and enjoy it, couldn't others feel the same way, creating that demand? I also don't think one more or one less viewer is going to have much of an impact either way. Now, if you didn't want to watch it on a streaming service so you wouldn't get similar shows recommended to you, that would make sense to me.

Not the OP but you could say the same thing about voting, too. By that logic, there's no point in making any sort of decisions to influence the future because I'm always going to be just one person.

Yeah, though I didn't warm up to it much when it was still running either. I liked Serentiy well enough though.

Given what Joss was going to do to Inara's character (some kind of h/c with Reavers involved?) it's probably best it ended where it did before it became a huge dumpster fire, honestly.

How exactly? This show had a lot of potential and a lot of directions it could go. The only way it's a mess is because it was cut short before getting a chance to properly build the characters/universe or finish what it started.

I thought each of the episodes were fairly self contained while simultaneously building the bigger story. Like... you can tell they were trying to do something with each of the characters but we just never got to see the payoff for anything except for River in Serenity.

I think it's kinda unfair to call it a mess without really getting a chance to take off and explore what it wanted to do completely. Shepherd is a complete mystery. We have brief glimpses that he might have a darker past but we never get to see it. Pretty sure there was more to do with Inara as well.

There is a comic that gives Book's story. I don't know if you can find it, but I was lucky enough to run across a copy.

Thanks for the reminder. Time for a rewatch.

Comment OP but not secret maker

For some context, this was in a thread after a secret about the planned arcs after the show ended. Not sure why it deserved to be a secret, but thanks OP!
