What is something you didn't like the first time you watched/read/played it,

But ended up liking after a second (third/fourth) try?

Parks and Rec. Couldn't get past the first two episodes because it was too much like The Office. Someone told me to skip to season two and it was a completely new (and better) show.

Game of Thrones. Watched the first two episodes and didn't like it. Tried to read the books. Tried to listen to the audiobooks. Finally, gave the show another shot after seeing Brienne and Jaime gifs on Tumblr. Fell in love.

Metal music in general. Just had to find the ones that didn't just sound like screaming to me.

Star Trek, surprisingly, considering how deeply I love it now. I have a Trekkie friend who tried to weasel me in with the 2009 movie, which I hated lmao. So she was like "hmm... actually, if you didn't like that, you might seriously love the show," so we tried a couple of episodes of the original series. She was right, I did like that a lot more, but it was little a little too cheeseball for my tastes, so she was like "all right, last attempt, let's try Next Gen, and if you don't like that we'll call it."

I loved it! I adored the crew, I loved the stories, and I just kept wanting to watch more. My friend was very pleased, haha.

I felt the same about DS9, though Voyager a little less so after season three. I haven't watched Enterprise or Discovery yet, though my friend says if I don't like the new movies I won't really like Discovery, so I'm trusting her on that.

Lord of the Rings. The first time I tried to read the books, I found them a horrible, plodding slog that seemed to exist only to steal every last drop of my joy.

I finally read the trilogy all the way through when the movies were first being advertised, and while they will never be my favourite books, I found them much more enjoyable.

I didn't like Gerard Way's solo album, but by the third time, it grew on me and I really like it now. Same with Ray Toro's solo album.

Shetland. I tried it twice and noped out at Tosh throwing up in the first episode both times. Later on a friend got me into it, mostly by reassuring me that body fluids were at a minimum from them on. Nearly noped out at another Tosh thing later on, but stuck with it.

Paris. Hated it the first six times I went. Loved it the seventh.
