You do realise Disney holds such a majority that if you've pretty much seen most films (and a lot of tv) in the past ten years the money would go back to Disney? (Yes, Disney even owns Miramax so that includes all of the more 'indy stuff'.) seen a film in the past ten years you would also be 'funding Disney and its proprietry bullshit'.
Also, ffs let people enjoy what they want to enjoy and not be such asshole about it. You must be real fun at parties.

Jesus Christ, reading more and more into just how much Disney owns is downright horrifying.

WHY DOES THAT NOT SCARE YOU

I can't understand it at all, we are ambling closer and closer to an absolute (and I do mean absolute) takeover of the media by a conglomerate that routinely and openly engages in pure fucking propaganda (Captain Marvel was sponsored by the goddamned Air Force for god's sake) and all you can say is "let people enjoy things?" This is terrifying shit, seriously! This is not something people can just sleep on!

But they do, and they will, because vapid entertainment must come before all else. Please, please at least understand how scary this is.

Seriously, there is a time and a place for blissful inorance, but blindly consuming whatever the media feeds you because it's enjoyable (news flash: that's the point) is kind of adorable.

No, what's adorable is you guys panicking about movies while Google and Amazon literally take over every aspect of your lives.

Do you honestly think anyone freaking out about a Disney takeover is oblivious to Google and Amazon?

Come on.

what

We weren't talking about Amazon and Google, we were talking about Disney, so of course I didn't bring up something wholly unrelated to the conversation at hand? Of course Google and Amazon are equally bad news and we should be incredibly afraid of what's going on there too, especially as Bezos tries to weasel his way deeper and deeper into the nation's capitol, such as already owning the Washington Post?

Oh, you forgot Facebook, though! Since, you know, we need to talk about every single thing all at once

This is a bad post

I don't know how you go through life if you believe that and it does scare you. Are you okay?

But the military helping fund movies and providing both access, people, and equipment in return for positive portrayals has been part of Hollywood for literally decades? They're also involved in tv shows.

Captain Marvel being sponsored is not a new trend that only Disney has been open to. It's not even like the first MCU movie that had military involvement.

(Wings, released back in 1927 and backed by the Pentagon is considered one of the earliest big project.)

This has been an issue that has rightfully been discussed over the decades.

Most people in fandom only care when it's a movie they don't like. "This movie was funded by the military so it's bad" is a "gotcha" to people who liked the movie, not a real criticism of the fact that it happens.
