Jaime and Brienne are romantically interested in each other. No one I know in real life agrees.

Even though the show lampshaded it themselves with Bronn "joking" about how they mutually wanna fuck?

THAT IS WHAT I AM SAYING. They are all just like, he is just a mentor to her and someone she looks up to.

LOL, I thought people only pulled that shit with same-sex friends, but I guess if a couple even slightly falls outside of heteronorms that's too unbelievable.

Thanks to most writers being men, most canon relationships tend to be about the guys being paired only with the women the writers want to bang. It's boring and painfully predictable and usually regardless of the actual chemistry between characters as far as I can tell.

Excuse me, Brienne is the mentor in that relationship, not Jaime. Do your friends even watch the show?

Agreed. The only thing that could make me want to watch GOT again is if they get them together.

I don't watch GoT and barely remember either character from the books, but the Jamie (Jaime)/Brienne fic is AWESOME. At least, when written by Astolat. :D

Ooh yes. Astolat does good Jaime/Brienne. \0/

Can't find any other authors I like though.

I absolutely think they are. I hate Jaime and think she could do better. But I absolutely think they are interested and that they will end up together in canon.

Jaime is like white rice. He takes on the flavour of whatever he's close to. With Cersei he'll push children off towers. With Brienne he does a lot of stupid self-sacrificing good things.

Lol for real. Murder rice.

Re: Fandom Opinions.

(Anonymous) 2019-05-05 04:36 am (UTC)(link)
That's one of the most interesting things about Jaime to me - he outsources a lot of his moral decision-making to the nearest authoritative figure he feels any connection with, and then operates on a platform of "what would X do" until a stronger influence imposes itself.

Which makes sense when you consider the fact that the one significant moral choice he's claimed as his own was the thing that made him hated by everyone for years, because by the Westerosi code of behaviour, he should have fought to the death for Mad King Aerys even though he was a monster who needed to be put down and everyone knew it even without knowing that Aerys was about to essentially nuke all of King's Landing when Jaime executed him. Saying "fuck it, I'll do what will make X happy with me, and to hell with everyone else" isn't admirable, but it's a solid defense mechanism.

I agree with your take. I think Tywin probably didn't help either. He didn't have a high opinion of Jaime's intelligence from what I remember.

Yes! I said two years ago that it would be my greatest though not unrealistic wish and my husband laughed and said it would never happen. But in s8e2 we both had a second where we thought Jaime was about to tell her he loved her. And now he's a hardcore shipper.

What... Like dude I don't OTP ship it but it is very, very clear that the two of them are 100% into one another. It's not even subtle.

What the fuck, this is one of the most obviously telegraphed couples in the series!?

Re: Fandom Opinions.

(Anonymous) 2019-05-04 09:30 pm (UTC)(link)
Dude, I’ve never watched a single episode of GoT or made it more than a couple chapters into the first book, but just from seeing gifsets, I kind of ship them, and I’d swear so does the show canon.

LMAO

Oh man. Oh man.

I'm pretty sure they won't be able to hold that opinion much longer. If they do, it's just straight up denial.

They are all up to date! So unless something more explicit happens, they will be in denial.

*imagines Jaime and Brienne holding each other in bed, no clothes on*

Isn't that sweet? I do that all the time with my best platonic bud, too!

Uhhh, is that going to happen in a future episode? BECAUSE IF SO I WILL LOSE MY MIND.

Were they watching the same show? Because damn. They were never all that platonic. Even when they met and he was calling her names... he's enjoying pulling her non-existant pigtails.

I don't know what the show will do with them, but I agree. It's not an ambiguous thing. They have feelings.

Re: Fandom Opinions.

(Anonymous) 2019-05-05 12:03 am (UTC)(link)
Lmao, what are those people watching? IDEC about shipping usually and definitely not in GoT but that is like the most obvious thing in the show. They might not ever act on it but yeah, it's there.
