What I've gathered is that one of the endings to the new Mortal Kombat game features a character traveling back in time to end slavery, and that people are outraged about this

to be fair, i kinda get the backlash--it's not like there aren't male characters that are half naked, lol. if the guys are also wearing almost nothing too, i don't see why we can't have the girls show some skin. just not like, ALL of them--have some variety, let them show character.

Because a guy being almost naked and showing off huge, bulging muscles is a male power fantasy vs a woman being mostly naked is a guy's wet dream, normally. Believe it or not, context is important.

Once you start reading romance novels (or at least glance at the covers) i.e. porn written specifically for women, usually by other women, you start realizing that naked men with huge, bulging muscles really isn't just a male power fantasy. And once you remember there are non-straight guys on the planet, you'll realize it's not just a power fantasy for all men either.

That's why on cheesy female-marketed romance novel covers, all the men are properly dressed and proper-like.
