What I've gathered is that one of the endings to the new Mortal Kombat game features a character traveling back in time to end slavery, and that people are outraged about this

How far back in time are we talking? Because as far as I remember from my history education slavery has been around as long as humans have been self aware enough to start being dicks to each other.

that said, I think if you're criticizing a fighting game's plot on the grounds that the mechanics of time travel aren't realistic enough, I think you've taken a wrong turn in general

It seems like what really made people angry was the fact that he used the word “woke.” Also, one of the character interactions has a Donald Trump joke.
