If video games count, I'll put in a vote for Suikoden 3. The Grasslands are pretty diverse. Plenty of folks, many from different tribes RIP Safir clan.

Suikoden in general was always light years ahead of every other game with diverse body types, all ages not just teenagers, and plenty of badass females who were still female and not just a man-warrior with boob armor. I've had friends who wanted to cosplay with me get super excited because they could be one of the matronly women with interesting-looking and comfy dresses, or one of the old fat shopkeepers, or one of the plain-looking people who are still valid characters with cool outfits while not being sexy cheesecake or meaty manly.

I mean hell I plan to cosplay Skald Egan when I go gray so...

YES. Plus you have three cool main characters to choose from and none of them are white men (or I guess you could make a case for Geddoe being white, but I'm pretty sure he and his group are meant to be that world's equivalent of Asian).

I never saw Asian in the 12th or any of the mercenaries...okay maybe Joker. But they're from all over the continent and some (like Queen) are from Harmonian-controlled territories. Geddoe I always saw as some kind of mutt - he's portrayed as more sallow in skintone than, say, the Zexens, so he's probably mixed-race in the sense that he has no idea where his ancestors came from. Wyatt, too, to an extent, which is why he passed for Karayan.

But, in general, you're so right. And Chris Lightfellow is a refreshing character overall even if I always mained Hugo.
