Really? I've not seen a lot of debating among fangroups. Certain groups have differing opinions but none of them really interact with each other.

I did love it when I first saw it and then saw it a second time and started to realise that it has major plot holes and flaws. I'm disappointed, as I'm a major Marvel fan and have seen all of the other films. They did a great job, sure and it's a fun film. But I feel at this point, the opposite is happening. If anyone suggests there are issues with the film, they're talked down by the rush of people going on about how it's the best film ever!

I've basically been avoiding all discussion to an unusual degree because with only a couple small complaints I was so happy with it and I just don't care what anyone else inevitably complains about.

I had a great time watching the movie; not really interested in other people's complaints here.

I touched on this in a secret last night but the two films have had similar post-release stories, but not necessarily in the same direction. Everyone among the vocal decided the TLJ sucked, whereas the vocal reaction to Endgame is that it was mostly amazing. There doesn't seem to be any accommodation for middle ground on this.

I really don't think the backlash against critics of Endgame has got anywhere near to the level of hate directed at people who openly enjoyed TLJ though. Not that I've seen anyway.

I mean, I obviously don't hope for TLJ level toxicity. But it's fine you liked the movie. It's also fine that other people didn't. Hope you don't think people not liking the movie and expressing their criticism is a personal attack on you.

OP said that they didn't want to be yelled at for liking a movie. That seems fair. Do you have a reason to think that they're interpreting civil criticism and different opinions as a personal attack?

because people rarely get yelled at for saying "i liked this movie", so either they're being hyperbolic (my guess) or overreacting to criticism

I don't think it's so rare. I've seen several people straight up say other people are stupid/have no taste for liking a movie they didn't like (including this one), and I would definitely consider that a personal attack

I just want to say that I really, really liked that movie.

It had enormous heaping shovelfuls of the sorts of things that I like, and if sometimes it went places I didn't expect, I'm okay with that.

It was great!
