Well, if you're contradictory and that's okay and all there is to it, I don't see why you keep pointing out me being "contradictory" as if it's something that I need to defend. Though the truth is, I never got where I said I was a "PARAGON of tolerance" or anything like that. I'm terribly intolerant in fandom, but generally of different things than noobs (I have one RL accquaintance who learned that I can speak civilly about religion, sexuality, and abortion with a variety of different people who all hold different beliefs from myself without really getting angry, but the minute he says something like "Fables? Man, that comic sucks!" them's faghtin' werds.) So there's my contradiction.
This isn't the worst wank I've seen by a long shot; it's just unexpectedly in depth from a simple, lolspeak comment.

So you don't have the nostalgia over your old self. Fine, that's cool, and that explains why you dislike the fangulls. Maybe that's why I find them endearing if annoying. That was highschool for me, and highschool was a very good time--I made most of my best friends when we were in the fangull stage, even though we've grown up and out of it now, we're still tight, and we can always get a laugh out of "Oh man, remember that night we stayed up, fueled on Parmesean Goldfish, writing a fic about going to Ancient China and falling madly in love with Tasuki and Chichiri?" It was bad, it was painful, but it was fun then. I remember the fun above all else, even if I wouldn't find it fun now, and I just can't bring myself to really, truly begrudge the little newfen their chance to have that kind of fun now while they're new and stupid.
