DOCUMENTARY REC: The Price of Everything
AVAILABLE ON: Hulu or The High Seas, whichever.

OFFICIAL SUMMARY:
Exploring the labyrinth of the contemporary art world, The Price of Everything examines the role of art and artistic passion in today’s money-driven, consumer-based society. Featuring collectors, dealers, auctioneers and a rich range of artists, from current market darlings Jeff Koons, Gerhard Richter and Njideka Akunyili Crosby to one-time art star Larry Poons, the film exposes deep contradictions as it holds a mirror up to contemporary values and times, coaxing out the dynamics at play in pricing the priceless.

WHY I REC:
Holy shit lmao this movie is a RIDE. I don't know how the official summary makes it sound so much more boring than it is, but it's GREAT. There's everything you could ask for: pretentious artists, UNpretentious artists, flashy people, sad stories, general hilarity and poignancy by turns. You'll probably hate at least two of the people shown and love at least one - which ones those are depends more on your own views about art than the show. But it's not just fun to watch, it's lots of fun to discuss, too.

WHAT IT HAS:
Setting: In The City - well, that's ONE of the many settings, but I'd say the city (and the NYC scene specifically) is the general heart of it.
Scenes: Something Is Created - MANY somethings, it's a movie about contemporary art and artists, after all.
