It depends so much on what you're talking about specifically? There are some things where it really does make sense to use Google more than to ask a person, and especially where you're essentially asking someone else to use Google on your behalf, or asking about basic facts.

And this case seems like one of those. I mean, realistically, anon probably does not have pics of Gwendoline Christie saved on their phone or w/e. So all they're going to do is Google and find some pics and then post them. So it just seems sort of silly.

Remember that part later in the chapter where Lily asks Snape if she'll do well at Hogwarts even though she's muggle-born and he has to think about it before he says yes? If Snape's the only wizard Lily has ever met, and he has no muggle prejudices, then why would she even think that having two muggle parents, instead of just one like Snape, might mean she'd do poorly at Hogwarts?

And also there's the part where Snape's got to debate it with himself before he can reassure her.

Precedents exist though for people with better claim setting aside their right to rule and ceding it to someone else. Bottom line is, if Jon is adamant about not ruling, no one can make him.

Thing is, the show is doing a weird thing where he SAYS he supports Dany for the throne but doesn't really do much else to back that up, making you think, "Well maybe he DOES want the throne..." which is stupid because it flies in the face of his character.

careful, friend, you might hurt something reaching that far

It seems natural for Muggles to be nervous about how they'll do at a magical school full of witches and wizards. In fact, isn't Harry himself nervous about that? And aren't other Muggleborns?

He's still a potential focus for rebellions under those conditions, for one thing

But if you're interested in furthering the conversation, there are polite ways to phrase 'go Google it'.

Even in a venting thread?

but it's their point to make? so why shouldn't they do the legwork to make their case instead of waiting on everyone to find a million different pictures that may or may not show Christie's face looking different over the years when they probably have one or two in mind already to make the comparison?

I guess we shall see if anyone else says anything.

I read the books too and in the books it wasn't rape. It wasn't the editing, it was Cersei saying "no" and "don't" the entire fucking time.

I love some good fandom crack, but "Imagine child Snape said something kind of dumb to Lucius and made him cry" is definitely more ass than crack. Whatever floats your boat, though.

in cars stop to let me cross the street in places where they don't need to. Please, that is so dangerous for all of us.

make fun of people for having cracky, silly fun (this is also in this post lol)

For my part, I think that marriage between them is not the solution. If Jon wants to reveal his lineage but still not rule, he should join Dany's Queensguard. Then he can be close to her and not threaten her rule. The fact that he never brought that up is part of the show's annoying 'what does he really want' sleight of hand.

(Anonymous) 2019-05-12 11:43 pm (UTC)(link)
What cause are you talking about? All I did was ask an innocent question.

(Anonymous) 2019-05-12 11:47 pm (UTC)(link)
I hate the idea of Jon on the throne, but I can think of one reason they shouldn't marry. Dany believes herself to be barren, so what is she going to do about heirs? Even if she ends up on the throne, her best recourse is to have Jon marry and have kids with someone else, and declare those offspring heir.

Who I'm driving places start backseat driving and/or freaking out.

Different anon.

But can you do this when you don't have a full party of sixteen? There's going to come a point in my playthrough (haven't touched it in several years, but I've gotten several hundred to Zoombiniville and would like to rescue all of them if possible) when all that's left are the ones that got left behind when I screwed up the pizza game/ran out of magic for the lilypad game/made a sacrifice for the bubble game, and I probably won't have sixteen zoombinis in the party. Are those few stragglers doomed to be left behind, or did the game account for that?

I hope it did. The game was meant for kids, and I'd hope the developers would consider that kids (and adults, but kids can be a bit more bullheaded) want to see things through to completion. Being forced to leave some behind because you MUST have a party of sixteen wouldn't feel like a true win state to a lot of people, myself included.

Of course you can be silly. Lots of Snape fans have fun with it and are silly and even get other people to enjoy being silly Snape fans with them because their silliness is based on something that other people relate to and engage with. 'Snape thinks Lucius looks like Legolas and Lucius is saddened because he doesn't know what that means' isn't particularly silly and doesn't give anyone else much to work with.

I wish they'd handled the hookup in the show better too. Some foreplay. Some anxiety/nervousness on either Brienne's or Jaime's part. Oddly, I think the sex scene was completely in character, but it would have worked better for a third or fourth time scene, or as a "we haven't done it in a while" scene. It didn't really work as a first time sex scene.

Brienne in the show is supposed to be older than Brienne in the books, so I can buy her being bolder... but... yeah, I still think she would have had some reservations. And I hate complaining, because we got SO much UST and arguably romantic gestures from season 2 through 8... but then again, that's exactly the problem. The actual sex scene lacked the emotion and romance, didn't give us anything leading up to it, didn't give us anything following it (afterglow), and then torpedoed it in a puddle of Brienne's tears (though I don't think this is the actual end of them).

(Anonymous) 2019-05-12 11:58 pm (UTC)(link)
sadly, I think you had to have a full party of sixteen (you can MAKE unlimited zoombinis so you can make a few I think instead of the whole sixteen?) God I can't remember and I played an emulated version of this like two years ago.

They don't actually mention the valonqar part of the prophecy in the show, so I don't know if Jaime will be the one to kill Cersei. But I do suspect he will do his part in making sure she faces the consequences of her actions.
