I think they could have done a fantastic mad queen plot if they gave themselves the time to do it properly, but they did not. So now we have Dany sulking and looking sad for a bit and then just deciding to roast some babies? Idk.

YOU ARE SO RIGHT ABOUT THE ROBERT AND JON THING. Jon doesn't even want to run Winterfell when he's living there. He couldn't even manage being Lord Commander of the night's watch and that's like... ten whole guys at the time. :/

As a J/B shipper I appreciate that other people are also WTFing and wanting to hug Brienne and punch a dead man and maybe the writers too.

Yup. Like, a nice ruler is fine. But they still need to be good at the job. Which Jon is not. He's also not great at picking the best advisors to be around him and to make up for his weaknesses.

And I don't even like J/B, mostly because I hate Jaime. But the writers still did this ship wrong and I was not okay with how they ended things.

Yeah. I get the impression that Jon hates politics and doesn't have the stuff for it. I think people gave him too much credit for all his "wins" when he's mostly good at showing up at the right time and not being a villain, so people follow him rather than the other guy.

Hating Jaime is valid.

Oh absolutely agreed, Dany going dark could have been a really compelling and interesting plot... if it had any build-up at all and wasn't just thrown in because 'idk gotta have something happen? DRAGONS. BOOM. FIRE'.

HE IS THE WORST LEADER OF ALL TIME, HE DOESN'T LIKE DOING IT, JUST LET HIM GO BACK BEYOND THE WALL SO HE CAN RUN FREE AND LIVE OUT HIS LIFE IN CARELESS FROZEN JOY.

Awwwww, let me hug you anon, because none of you deserved that at all, she isn't someone for him to screw and then discard because Cersei is his True Love(then why did he leave in the first place????).

I still argue that the best idea would have been to make Jon a Targyaren but not legitimate (I mean, Rhaegar had kids with Elia, so annulling the marriage isn't realistic anyway). Dany can't have kids. She gets to be queen, Jon finds some girl and makes babies, and his babies are made Dany's heirs. Everyone's happy.

Sadly, this requires writers to actually use their brains, something which is sorely lacking if this season is anything to go by.

But yes, that's a good way to solve it tbh.

But that would have made actual sense, which is clearly not what the writers were trying to do this season.

Yeah, I found Jon as an illegitimate Targyaren really interesting. The second he was legit, not so much.

I appreciate the Sully hug. Brienne is precious and did not deserve to be a casualty of this idiocy. I have questions too but at least Jaime's dead now and they can't make the ship worse than dead really. Idk I'm trying to see an upside.

I actually felt bad for Jon when he told Tormund he wished he was going with him. Tormund should have just carried him off Wildling style and then Ghost could have had two dads and not looked so sad.

Honestly at the moment I am seriously holding my breath about a 'shocking reveal' that she's carrying his child or something, because that's the level of shit-tier writing we've hit ladies an gentlemen.

But I also hope I am very wrong and that what we got was the bottom of the barrel, because that ship doesn't deserve any more holes(man I can only imagine how the actor for Jamie is feeling because he's been stanning that ship for like 8 seasons, it's not your fault my dude).

I now accept your thoughts as canon and the only acceptable way to end the series, let him run free with his wildling husband and Direwolf(who he hasn't been allowed to pet for like 3 seasons now).

Re: Game of Thrones

(Anonymous) 2019-05-14 01:03 am (UTC)(link)
Probably. That's what it's come to.

Oh I know. The poor actors this season. At least they seem to be friends IRL. Even if they're under contract not to shit talk the writers in public, they can do it privately, and I bet they are as they're seeing the final product.

The Direwolves were the real losers of this series. Ned should have told Robert to fuck right off and stayed in Winterfell with his family and the puppies in season 1. I want that show. How To Train Your Direwolf.

Yeah I can only imagine how they're probably sat there agreeing for the most part but unable to say anything, and I hope that most of the ire is at the writers+showrunners and not the people who just happen to play them(because ultimately they don't have any choice).

Sadly the man lacked any real brains, otherwise his family could have avoided this mess, well, until the White Walker came a-knocking. But maybe they'd have had a more united military against them?

Yeah, to be fair most of the hate I've seen has been directed at D&D, not the cast. I think it's clear the six episode speed finale was a terrible plan at this point. No doubt they're going to be a cautionary tale in the industry.

I think they would have figured something out. If the whole war thing never happened then Cat had the Riverlands, The Vale, and probably some other people to call on, Ned had the entirety of the north and Benjen knew Mance if I remember right. If Robert hadn't died he'd have sent Ned his army and whatever else he needed. They probably would have had the whole of the Seven Kingdoms together to fight the NK and lots more time to prepare. He knew who Jon was, and potentially could have sent him to steal a dragon or two with his Targ dragon magic bullshit. It could have been done!

As also a J/B shipper, I will be SO pissed off if Brienne ends up pregnant with a Lannister bastard at this point. Like a, she wasn't good enough for Jaime, here's a consolation prize for always being second to Cersei. Seen it enough on daytime television, don't need it here too.

Yeah, she's been really fucked over by the writers so it wouldn't surprise me. I think she'd be a badass mum, but I wish she'd get that on her terms if she decided she wanted it.

I'm pissed that they trashed J/B after making it happen. I still enjoy fandom's far superior takes on what would happen if they got together but god what a fuckup canon was.

If Jaime pops up out of the rubble like a daisy (because the writing has been exactly that stupid and improbable) and runs back to her I hope she knocks his teeth out at this point. Hell, if he doesn't, I hope she takes a vacay to KL just pee on his grave and tell corpse Cersei she can keep her idiot brother.
