Martin Freeman has stuffed his foot in his mouth so many times that I honestly just have this feeling of vague distaste every time I see him now. Ruined any chance of me enjoying the Hobbit trilogy (tbf I'm pretty sure I wouldn't have enjoyed it either way), and he was a deeply unpleasant surprise popping up in Black Panther. Ugh.

mte, though he had the best line in BP ("Please don't make me listen to your music.")

That's the hard part, I objectively know he's a good actor with incredibly sharp comedic timing, and he can sell the fuck out of a deadpan line like that, but... I just hate seeing him at this point. I just can't unhear all the shitty stuff he's said and done and it absolutely taints what should be a hilarious moment.

I feel kind of bad for him in the sense that he seems like one of those actors who is just fed up with his fans but has spent so many years acting that he can't imagine leaving the business.

I'd agree with that. I wonder sometimes if he regrets doing Sherlock; like it definitely opened some doors for him but it also dumped him from having fans (as in people who enjoyed watching him on The Office or what have you) to having fans (as in people that ship him with Benedict Cumberbatch and infiltrate his personal life as much as possible).

But I kind of feel like that's something entirely separate from what I was talking about? His "problematic" shit goes way back, I guess it's just more public now. Idk. He just doesn't seem like a very good person from some of the shit he says.

Word. I spent all his scenes in BP pretending he was someone else.
