Oh, please. Henry VIII was grooming Henry Fitzroy (literally "Henry the King's bastard") for the throne. And Henry Fitzroy probably wouldn't have been the first bastard King of England. Also, primogeniture was used in England in the hopes of avoiding civil wars, but other countries were using alternative succession systems that had no problem with brilliant bastards.

SA: The Tudor dynasty is not the best one to look at as an example where things like primogeniture, rule of law, and respect for legal marriage worked.
