Re: Robert Pattison is oging to play Batman.

I don't actually understand why they said in the article that at 32, he "becomes the youngest actor to ever play Batman on the big screen" because first of all, he just turned 33 and by the time the movie comes out in June 2021, he'll be 35, and second of all, Christian Bale was 31 (born in January 1974 and Batman Begins was released in June 2005) and Val Kilmer was 35 (born in December 1959 and Batman Forever was released in June 1995). Yes, George Clooney was 36 (born May 1961 and Batman & Robin was released in June 1997) and Michael Keaton was 37 (born September 1951 and Batman was released in June 1989), but really?

Anyway, if he sticks around for a couple more movies after the first, then he'll actually be about that. But that's kind of a big if.

But I kind of understand them mostly casting actors in their 30s - they want some gravitas, but they also want someone they believe can do stunt-heavy action for some time. I mean, I fully expect that they try to cast with the expectation of at least three movies, even if it doesn't work out.

So you made me want to go look up how old Adam West was and also the guy from the 40s serials. Turns out serial guy (Lewis Wilson) was only in his early 20s! (Born January 1920, first serial released July 1943.)

Adam West was one of the "older" ones (born September, 1928, so 37 when the show premiered in January, 1966 and 39 when the last episode aired in March, 1968). Ben Affleck has been the only live-action Batman already over 40 when he debuted.

Anyway, I get why they cast 30-somethings a lot, but I just want some Batfamily, dang it! The myriad of Batman adaptations is one of the fun things about the character and since we've seen both dark and funny versions, I don't see why we can't also mix it up a bit more with his age and get more of the supporting characters in there.
