My dude, Tatsuya Ishida can make as many comics as he wants about how all corporate art is the work of Actual Literal Satan, and how anyone who likes it is a Brainwashed Zombie^TM, and that's his business; but when he posts these under the link to his Patreon, that makes him a wanker.

I mean, I actually have no idea who that is, so I'm kind of genuinely asking (and it's also entirely possible he's a wanker for other unrelated reasons).

But based on what you've presented here - one, it seems like you're conflating a lot of possible criticisms here, whether it's of corporate control of art, or capitalism more broadly. For instance, it's possible to have criticisms of corporate art outside of the simple fact that it involves the exchange of art for money, so it's not even necessarily the case that putting your art up for sale is even a little bit of a contradiction.

Two, the reality is that even people who are deeply critical of capitalism have to exist. And the reality is that we exist in a society where capitalism is the predominant social and economic system. To a very real extent, existing in society means engaging with capitalism on some level. So, basically, just pointing that reality out is really not an effective refutation of the criticisms people make of capitalism.

And, I mean, I think there probably are reasonable conversations to have about how you weigh those things against each other and what that practically entails, and a lot of disagreement. But just asserting that asking for money while being critical of capitalism makes you a wanker is a bad argument.

Writer/artist of longrunning webcomic Sinfest. He is generally a wanker because he's a huge transphobe, thinks porn is Evil, thinks BDSM is Evil, dehumanises sex workers, and believes he is the One True Male Feminist. Oh, and when I say "Evil" and "Actual Literal Satan" - Satan is a character in the comic. Female sex workers are female demons. The only men in the sex industry are pimps, and they are also demons. None of this is hyperbole.

I am generally critical of capitalism. I am generally in favour of artists who criticise capitalism. I am 100% in favour, at all times, of artists being able to eat and keep a roof over their heads.
But when an artist goes out of their way to assert that every OTHER artist who's looking to get a steady paycheque is a cheap corporate shill and a tool of the man - then I'm gonna call them a wanker. What else would you call them?

There are some non-demon female sex workers. They're branded as slaves, but they're human. And there's also some android sex workers. Given the current storyline about gender, I'm not sure he's a transphobe or someone who just doesn't get it (and is not willing to get it due to being in an echo chamber)

Oh, and that doesn't make him not being a douche, but let's not give his fans tools to make it as if no criticism of him is valid.
