Spoilers!

Finally!

I actually enjoyed the ending more than I thought. I was really worried that somehow Jaime and Cersei were still alive.

Let me start by saying, most of the individual parts of the ending are great. The only problem is how they rushed it. If they had taken the time to draw it out, it would have been a masterpiece.

The only part I didn't like was Dany's death and the 10 or so minutes afterwards. It was the most anti-climatic death ever. He just...stabbed her, Drogon threw a tantrum, flew off with her body, and that was it? How did they know Jon killed Dany? Did he just tell everyone he did it? WHY? All he had to say was, "She went on a ride on Drogon."

I did like the idea of Dany being killed by her lover by being stabbed through the heart.

And then we have a flash-forward with a bunch of people I barely remember joking about who should be king? I expect they did that because they had no idea how to explain why Grey Worm didn't immediately kill Jon OR why the Dothraki/Unsullied hung around.

Now, I actually liked where each Stark kid ends up. They got happy endings and I enjoyed that. Sansa got her independent North. Her dress and crown were on point. Arya is going to explore the West, never settling down. That is what I would expect of her. Jon gets to live his life in the one place he ever felt truly at home with his best friend and wolf. We can have a spinoff rom com between Jon and Tormund.

Bran was the hardest to accept. I didn't see him as King but it sort of works? Bran will be a truly benevolent leader. I think he will allow his small council to make most of the decisions while he consults them using his vast knowledge. I almost see him living for hundreds of years until he finds a new Three-Eyes Raven to replace him as King.

I got the one thing I wanted, Brienne writing Jaime's triumphs in the book. FUCK YEAH. That means my girl Brienne is the friggin' Lord Commander of King's Landing. HELL YEAH! My favorite character Brienne got a happy ending.

I cannot believe they Bilbo Bagginsed the end, though.

Finally...........HE PET THE DOG!

Ha, I never thought of that. True. He probably honorably went and confessed or something.

I expect they did that because they had no idea how to explain why Grey Worm didn't immediately kill Jon OR why the Dothraki/Unsullied hung around.

I found it totally unbelievable that Grey Worm didn't kill Jon immediately, given what he'd already done to the Lannister prisoners.

I hated every part of it and thought it was a joke. I don't think Bran as king works as all. He's as much a Stark as Jon is. He's going to have shitty advisors. He's going to get himself killed doing something noble.

Bran as king felt very unfulfilling to me. It’s like someone described to me a situation where a tour of ppl work for something and the guy who was in the group but didn’t really do anything and didn’t really care for the throne until the end is the one who comes out on top.

That’s...not a case for being a good king.

Ghost getting his dad back was the only thing I'm going to be perfectly happy about.

I love Sansa as Queen in the North, but her family have all gone and even Brienne won't be with her. She'll have Lords and people bowing to her but it just sounds really lonely to me.

LMAO I said the same thing about Jon getting away with it because he could just say she took off on Drogon after they dracarys'd the ugly chair. Who knows why? She's crazy.

"I did like the idea of Dany being killed by her lover by being stabbed through the heart."

Ah yes let's kill the rape victim with an item that can be very phallic and is often used as a joke for phalluses. That's totes great, right?

Yeah it is great. Sorry they didn't kill her with one of the many guns laying around. I guess they should have burned her alive or crucified her?

I thought being the 3 eyed raven disqualified Bran from leadership? Hes basically not human anymore, how is he going to be king?!

Wasn't that why he said he couldn't be Lord of Winterfell?

But apparently he can be King?

This season has been quite the trainwreck, and D&D shouldn't have rushed it. As far as I'm concerned, the last good episode this season was the second one.

Pod became a knight, so that's cool.

I didn't want anyone to end up on the Iron Throne, and I guess I got what I wanted after Drogon melted down the damn thing. But I was also concerned about who would rule after Dany was killed. At this point, Bran is kind of closest to not being anyone. I don't mean that in a mean way, but that he isn't neurotic, greedy, cruel, hateful or obsessed, and has zero interest in the throne. I'm mixed if this is something Bran planned all along, but overall, I think I'm okay with where he ended up.

I'm very disappointed about Jaime's character development being flushed down the toilet, after the extra seasons with him running back to Cersei. His death had zero effect on the outcome of the story. Sure, it was "nice" to have Brienne filling out his entry in the book, but I could name a thousand other "nice" things that could have happened instead of having Jaime die the way he did. Tyrion's reaction was pretty heartbreaking.

Robyn Arryn all grown up, yeesh! I had to do a double take. And Sansa, rude as hell to interrupt your uncle. Nice that she got what she wanted though. Arya's and Jon's endings were probably for the best too. I still can't call the full ending "bittersweet," though all the shitty people seem to be gone, so there's that.

I'm really sad that Grey Worm basically turned out to be how his old masters made him to be: a ruthless killer. Before he was more level- headed.

Re: SPOILERS

(Anonymous) 2019-05-21 12:50 am (UTC)(link)
This ending inadvertently paints the 3-eyed raven as a malevolent power-hungry being. Or it was on purpose, idk anymore.

Re: SPOILERS

(Anonymous) 2019-05-21 01:12 am (UTC)(link)
I think until this season I've been too forgiving of all the things the writers changed and all the characters I felt they were letting down, because I thought they must have a plan for where they're going, and they must be going to reveal all this stuff in the coming seasons. Then it was just these six episodes that were written more like plot summaries than actual plots. They went here - this person died - they are here now - there's two dragons - no wait there's a big crossbow thingy - dany is crazy starting now.

There are maybe a handful of scenes I liked this season and most of them are just weird jokes like Tormund and his giant's milk story.
