Why? The secondhand market is a completely different beast based entirely on supply and demand. The price of an item on the secondhand market has no correlation to its original selling price whatsoever.

... so what makes that situation any different from someone who goes to Disneyland, buys some of the exclusive park merchandise, and then resells it for 3-4 times what they paid for it? They're profiting off of someone else's intellectual property just as much as the person reselling the doujinshi is.
