Every year on May 25th I lament that lilacs don’t grow here and that cut lilacs aren’t available to buy anywhere in town past early May. If they were, I’d totally braid some into my hair and hope other Pratchett geeks would say hi. Maybe I should just make a People’s Republic of Treacle Mine Road t-shirt for next year.

I always feel sad because it's late Autumn here, and there is zero chance I could get any lilacs. But lilacs DO grow in my city, and when they're blooming, I always think of Pratchett.

Lilacs grow where I live but bloom and wilt several weeks too soon, so I've resorted to buying artificial fabric/plastic flowers to go with a Truth! Justice! Freedom! etc shirt.
FYI getting cut lilacs in stores does not seem feasable, they wilt very fast when cut. The one year they bloomed late and I got my hands on real flowers, one hour after they were already dead, so unless flower shops use very strong chemicals to preserve them, they'll never make it intact to the customer.

AYRT—I’ve seen them for sale in grocery store floral departments, not just florists, so they manage somehow.

Oh? Then I'm genuinely curious about what stuff they put in them to make them hold on? for science and knowledge's sake and all.

I wear lilacs every year.

They always turn into brown wiling messes by mid-afternoon at the very best.

Yesterday I wore the lilacs, but also wore a lilac pin I got for the disc-world emporium.

So far no-one has ever commented on the lilac, tho.

They're only just starting to bloom around here, so we have the opposite problem.
