I usually judge dakimakura on their design first.

Which is to say, I judge the designer of said dakimakura just as much as I do its buyer.

Did the artist deliberately portray a ridiculously underaged character? Were they catering to the lowest possible fandom common denominator and then some? Given the materials that the pillow covers are usually made out of, is the price point way too high?

If any of the above questions can be answered with a resounding yes, I usually think that the dakimakura is point and laugh worthy.

Whether or not some poor sucker actually buys the damned thing is kinda moot after all that.
