Steve's ending in Endgame. A lot of people think it's happy and romantic; I just find it depressing and think it ruined his and Peggy's arcs in all of the previous canon, and made him look incredibly selfish and short-sighted. The way it was set up in the Endgame movie itself didn't work for me, and I couldn't buy that it was each other they were actually in love with, more like an extremely idealized version of each other.

And it's really obnoxious how the writers/producers can't keep their stories straight on what exactly happened. Because if it didn't happen the "alternate timeline" way, then Steve really fucked up and let a lot of chaos happen in the original timeline.

To me, that just says that they didn't think about it at all beyond "let's give him a happy ending with the wife and white picket fence, and since people flipped their shit about Sharon, lets put him with Peggy, since that's what the loudest parts of the fanbase seem to want." So they started with that image of a happy ending and shoehorned it it with no regard for what they had been doing previously.
