Hannibal Lector in Silence of the Lambs. He was by far my least favorite part of the film. He was like a cartoon character in an actual serious movie.

Ditto. Anthony Hopkins is a good actor, but his portrayal of Lecter quickly turned into a silly caricature.

I was vaguely enjoying Legally Blonde as a silly comedy until it got to that one scene where Elle totally knew for a fact that the pool boy was gay because "Gay men know designers. Straight men don't."

It was so important and considered factually sound that it was a plot point in revealing the pool boy was lying about being straight and she outed him in court. The movie proceeds to have his boyfriend flip his wrists and flounce out of the courtroom in tears.

Why the pool boy was randomly lying about having an affair with the defendant besides har har surprise gay comedy is never known and the whole subplot makes zero sense. Except to act like Elle's "deduction skills" are sound because stereotypes are true.

All affinity for this movie, gone. I hope people who say they loved this movie have forgotten that scene existed.

Yeah, that was total bullshit.

'Gay or European' was a good musical number though.

Oh god, thank you so much. I'm surrounded by people who think that it's the Truest Feminist Classic and I... don't know. Maybe as a gay person who was uncomfortably outed when I wasn't ready, that hit a whole lot harder and made me extremely dislike her, but I didn't particularly find the rest of the movie very good or "empowering" either. :/

The woman he was lying about sleeping with was famous and accused of murdering her husband, so the case was probably a big news story. I assumed he was doing it to get his 15 minutes of fame and maybe some paid interviews.

Well, to be fair... that movie came out 18 years ago. I think back then it ranged from amusing to mildly annoying, while now it would likely be taken more as offensive.

And not to defend the movie again, but it was pretty careless when trying to showcase Elle's supposed genius. She'd push on a point and everyone was supposed to act like it was an amazing strategic move when in reality it was dumb luck or X epiphany needed for the scene. The "gay men know designers" thing was just one of those IMO. The only time I think she was actually effective was when she helped her friend get back her dog (but again, the guy she was fooling was pretty stupid to begin with, without all the legal jargon she was tossing at him).

Not to mention gay men sleep with women all the time for various reasons, and a man having a boyfriend doesn't even prove he's gay, because bisexuality exists.

Wasn't he getting paid for it by Chutney or her mother to give Brooke Taylor-Windham more of a motive for murder? Since part of her defense is that she loved her husband and wouldn't kill him, an affair would cast doubt on that.

Obligatory "the MCU in its entirety" mention.

But, outside of that, I honestly dislike Back to the Future a lot, and this has not made me a popular person. Marty is such a self-important little jerkwad! My friends have all explained ad nauseum that "that's the point" and he "gets better" by the end of the trilogy, but I could barely stomach the first movie, much less have to sit through two more. Plus the humor totally misses me, idk. I don't find it funny or charming at all, and the characters are all annoying to me.

I hated the hell out of Christopher Lloyd's character knocking that woman unconscious and dumping her in an alley to possibly get raped just because he thought she talked too much??? what the exalted fuck? and Doc Brown is not supposed to be the bad guy???

Ghostbusters.

I didn't remember liking it as a kid, tried to watch it again as an adult and got bored. I just don't find it funny or think any of the characters are worth sticking through for that movie for.

Weirdly though I liked the cartoon that they did in the 90's.

Titanic. I saw it in theaters when it first came out (during it's normal scheduled run, before theaters decided to keep it around for five months). I hated it.

Everyone gushed about how romantic and tragic it was, then I saw it and all's Jack did was boss Rose around all the time. They had a short fling and he died at the end, so now she's got this hyper-idealized version of him in her memory she's still in love with.

Blah.

Well

I cannot stand The Red Badge of Courage (this is more for the book, though I don't like the movie, either).
I do not want to watch Casablanca, ever.
I dislike the title character in Snow White, so yeah.
The bits of The Texas Chain Saw Massacre that I have seen make me want to stay as far away from it as I can.

Steve's ending in Endgame. A lot of people think it's happy and romantic; I just find it depressing and think it ruined his and Peggy's arcs in all of the previous canon, and made him look incredibly selfish and short-sighted. The way it was set up in the Endgame movie itself didn't work for me, and I couldn't buy that it was each other they were actually in love with, more like an extremely idealized version of each other.
