I don't know how artistic this explanation is but I like the pan flag best because it reminds me of art class at school and the year we were only allowed to use primary colors and had to mix them to get everything else.

My full art kit that year was five Manley wax crayons (magenta, lemon, cyan, black & white) and multiple sponges and rags (to mix the colors, do fades, etc).
