Every character, regardless of temperament, origin, or franchise, has been or is currently being shipped with another character. It is law.

And the presence of a (white) dick exponentially increases the likelihood of shipping.

(Anonymous) 2019-06-05 11:38 pm (UTC)(link)
STFU already and just lie back and enjoy the shipping!

And people making memes of Dyatlov. Internet culture is an incredible thing. How will future generations look back at us, and what form will it take?

(Anonymous) 2019-06-05 01:26 am (UTC)(link)
OP

I have to say, the Dyatlov memes are extremely accurate. xD And given how much of a jackass he could be, apparently, it's a good way to poke fun at him too.

The vast majority of memes about Dyatlov refer to the HBO series, and specifically, to his fictionalized persona. Most of them have nothing to do with the actual historical person. There is a distinction between the two.

While I don't ship them at all (I'm too busy being horrified at the real life events as shown and talked about in the podcast, to treat this mini as a usual fandom thing), but... how is this different from people shipping them? They're obviously doing it only for the portrayal of the pair as "those two guys" in the HBO series, so it's also a fictionalized persona. Or are people angry just because Dyatlov WAS a jerk -according to real life accounts- AND was pretty much the cause that Chernobyl was as bad as it was, if not of the actual meltdown, so it's easier to uhm... "disrespect him"?

(Anonymous) 2019-06-05 04:44 am (UTC)(link)
*whispers* It isn't different.

Most of the fandom seems to understand the distinction when it comes to the memes, but is losing its shit over the shipping.

Wait, there's someone in fandom who isn't aware of rule 34?

(Anonymous) 2019-06-05 03:50 am (UTC)(link)
the whining about this pairing has fuck all to do with respect

y'all are just grandstanding for attention
