Not at all. I enjoy reading good fanfiction. Good being the keyword.
If I ever became a published writer I would not want my work tainted by horrible fanfiction writers that mostly inhabited the net.

Well, "good" naturally. But it isn't like you could police what people write about your universe. You have to either turn a blind eye to it, or disallow it all like Anne Rice, etc. I wouldn't want people to write badfic about my characters, but I wouldn't disallow it, either.

I think writing fanfiction is one of the greatest compliment to a creator, but tt all depends, if the novel I'm currently working on ever becomes published (or self-published) I would want to disallow fanfiction because this would be my first piece of work. However, there are still fanfiction groups for Anne Rice's work on LJ and AFF if I'm not mistaken so I guess it wouldn't matter either way.

Well, see, that's just the thing. I see really well-written fanfiction as a compliment to the author and would enjoy seeing what fanficcers could come up with.


But then..... I remember all the insane smut that gets written. And that frightens the hell out of me.
