Honestly? I've noticed in some shows that when they get this awesome, intricate, multi-layered character, sometimes it's almost like they don't know what to do with them. I dunno, I guess I just like a lot of character development and the plot is secondary to me, but when you introduce this awesome character with all kinds of potential and then just kill them off, it really disappoints me. :P

Sometimes, however, they take a great character and make them 2D. It's just as painful as shoving in a new 2D person.

Plot is totally secondary to me, too. That's the main reason why I hated the DW S3 series finale...it was plot, plot, plot and not enough interaction between characters we care about.

Agh, yes. I actually felt that way the most about the fourth season finale - I was kind of baffled by the Doctor's actions during the entire thing, and I wish that if they'd wanted to have Donna and Rose end up the way they did, they could have at least given us a little more insight into his psyche. Maybe I'm just slow, but it all seemed to happen rather quickly, him making these life-changing decisions for other people. :/

The part that bugs me about that is, hasn't the new show implied several times that the Doctor has FORGOTTEN his real name? So how could he tell Mary Sue River Song?

Oh, come on. It makes perfect sense. (as long as he doesn't stay her, I suppose...) I don't ship Doctor/Master, but *anything* would be better than River Sue...

It does make sense! It might actually be mildly amusing - the Master turns into a woman and becomes the Doctor's wife, has tiembabies, all while the Doctor is completely unaware who he/she actually is. I mean, it's weird, but what else is new? XD

LOL I suppose I didn't make myself too clear - I thought it was hot, yes, but I was laughing my ass off through the whole thing as well. Really loudly, actually.
