Babyfans don't send petitions, they send death threats.

Fandom petitions have been a thing for a long time. They continue to be a thing because sometimes they work, because they put a concrete number to the fans who are disappointed or angry.

When have they worked? I can't think of anything.

DA

I can think of several, but they weren't wah wah bring my fave back type requests. More like shows of interest en masse and showing companies a market was there.

For example, a poll/petition to bring back old school Runescape worked, and now the old MMO is more popular than the new version. A petition to bring back "classic" World of Warcraft worked and that's set to launch this year.

Lots of people on the Internet send death threats, unfortunately.

I remember petitions when I was in college in the 80s, in the science fiction fandom. I can't remember any specifics. I never signed one because on some level they bother me but I can't articulate why. But they've been around a long long time.
