No. But making the black guy Famine while Africa has the biggest problem with starvation and the Asian lady Pollution when several Asian countries have some of the world wide biggest issues with Pollution is kinda racist. I might be reading too much into it but it rubs me the wrong way.

I think it's clever and a good comentary on the modern world issues.

Then we'll have to agree to disagree. I find it very much the opposite of clever - in my opinion, its heavy handed and clumsy.

NAYRT but if they had made all the horsemen white there would have been bitching about that too.

Could have chosen War then. The colourlessness was an important design choice for the character in the book imo and shouldn't have been changed.

You genuinely think it would've been well-received to cast a black guy or asian woman as war? Lmao

(Anonymous) 2019-06-16 07:39 pm (UTC)(link)
I thought it was clever too. Imo the AYRT is just reaching to find racism.

(Anonymous) 2019-06-16 08:34 pm (UTC)(link)
If you have to insinuate I'm intentionally "reaching" I'm just going to insinuate you're not very smart if you thought this whole casting was "clever".

Agree here too. It makes sense to have the horseman represent the area you see the strongest effect. I don't see it as racist at all, but rather a conscious use of race to emphasize the power of these characters.

Shoulda have cast a middle eastern or African dude as war then. Considering that's the area where most armed conflicts take place these days.
