Damn. I'm not saying you absolutely have to share fandom interests with a partner, but I hope your boyfriend brings a lot to the table besides this.

He does, and I'm grateful to have someone who at least has similar interests. But sometimes I forget myself and gush about a certain fandom/character/storyline and he kind of looks awkward and gets quiet and I think "he thinks I'm weird, he's not into this like I am, fuck, I look stupid."

Have you asked him what he thinks at moments like this? Sometimes our insecurity and anxiety makes us think people are reacting this way even if they aren't. That said, it's nice to have a relationship where your partner doesn't think you're weird or stupid because you're passionate about something.

...you can be with someone who doesn't share every one of your interests though. My husband isn't into fandom, and that's fine. We've been together 16 years and it's not a big deal. We love each other and can't imagine being without one another. No one needs to bring a lot to the table if they don't share fandom interests, damn.
