It feels most romances are just like that though, characaters better eachother and they get together afterwards hahahaha, I actually find her not that bad, many anime heroines (and heroes) are one dimensional to appeal to the common denominator of kids and adults. Like "this is you. This is the world you're in now." The other characters are meant to be more interesting and that's what's meant to make the viewer want to watch the show or read the books, in my exp anyway xP
