I find it odd you mentioned 'The Good Place' as something you avoid, if only because I found they sidestepped a lot of the major religious buttons, rather (sorta) carefully. Of course I get it, but the entire premises is based on jokes and lies, that I would't think would offend people to that extent.

I mean, I've known Christians who get mildly offended if any media portrays Christianity as good and valid but just one option among many. Because to them, if a piece of media doesn't blatantly portray Christianity as the ultimate, only answer, then they're saying Christianity isn't special. Their whole worldview is built around the idea that no one else's faith or philosophical system is as real and potentially true as theirs. So even the mere idea of politely not making a commitment to endorsing a specific worldview for the purposes of teaching philosophy on a sitcom would make them uncomfortable.

Like at the end of Wrinkle in Time, when they're listing all the previous "lights". I know that some people find the inclusion of Jesus to be preachy (because the author was a Christian) but I know just as many conservative evangelical types who frown at that scene because Jesus is listed as just one among many great lights.

So I can see a certain type of Christian getting slightly offended at a show which is trying not to offend anyone's worldview.
