(Anonymous) 2019-06-26 11:10 pm (UTC)(link)But I know my Aunt who is a Minister would have over reacted to it when she was heavily in her evangelical phase, so I can understand you being cautious.
I hope you find people to talk to about it though.

(Anonymous) 2019-06-27 11:29 am (UTC)(link)“My dad’s a pastor. My uncle’s a pastor. My sister’s a pastor. I grew up on the very human side of Christianity, so messages in the household I grew up in were about peace, love and being understanding of everybody, which I think is quite cool. And with regard to this [Ellis playing Lucifer], they’re all super-excited I’m doing it.”
Seems nearly every interview brings it up now, I think a lot of interviewers are familiar with the Hell and Brimstone style of christianity and expect his family to have disowned him somewhat.

(Anonymous) 2019-06-27 01:02 pm (UTC)(link)Like at the end of Wrinkle in Time, when they're listing all the previous "lights". I know that some people find the inclusion of Jesus to be preachy (because the author was a Christian) but I know just as many conservative evangelical types who frown at that scene because Jesus is listed as just one among many great lights.
So I can see a certain type of Christian getting slightly offended at a show which is trying not to offend anyone's worldview.

(Anonymous) 2019-06-27 08:20 am (UTC)(link)(It reminds me of an Irish lecture I had during our studies who asked us whether we weren't offended by The Life of Brian. My classmate, the most religious of us all, just blinekd and looked at him and said something I found extremly apt - "One's faith would have to extremly frigile for one not to be able to watch a comedy")
