I hate that I do this. It's 100% irrational, but I can't help the little gut-twist whenever I see a friend or one of my favorite creators moving on from our shared fandom into something new-- it's a function of how hard I have fandom one-itis. My current fandom I've been in for three years, and it's starting to peter out now, which... like, I get, because nothing new will come out for it and there's a lot of new shiny stuff out there, but I'm gonna be here for a lot longer. The fandom I was in before this one, I was there for ten years.

I wish I could multifandom. It'd make my life a lot easier. The major one that people are leaving my fandom for right now is Good Omens, and I know I would enjoy Good Omens! I know I would! But I'm not at all done with my current fandom, so I'm just left with this feeling of being off-put and resentful whenever I see it. I hate it. :(

Oh man, I totally relate to this. I've never made it to ten years with a fandom, but I was in one fandom from 2007 to 2012, then another from 2012 to 2019. Now I'm in a new one, but it's pretty small, and already on the way out of relevance, and I just dont even know how to handle it.

I dont really have an issue with resenting authors for moving on, but I suspect that's only because my last two fandoms were huge. Plus, I got into one of them years after the show ended, so most of the fic authors had already moved on. I was just chilling in the ghost town with a couple dozen others, bringing awesome fics that were written in the 90s. :) Good times.

I definitely know that feeling. I tend to be in only one fandom at a time, too, and will stay there for years.
