That redheads are as oppressed of a minority as black people. So casting a black girl as Ariel is minority erasure.

They might not be talking about the conversation we had here, which was about the Good Omens character, not Ariel. So it's possible that someone out there does have that opinion about Ariel.

That said, you're right about the conversation here. No one said redheads are persecuted as much as black people, just that they're persecuted in the same way

which is still dumb as hell

I mean it’s nor the systematic oppression that you get of pocket in the US, but redheads get a pretty shitty time of it here in the UK. My sister is a redhead and she gets insults yelled at her on the street, she's been physically attacked three times because of her hair colour on nights out, has been spat on, reacts badly to some drugs because they're not routinely tested for redheads (just as they're not for poc), and has been told outright in two interviews that she's not being hired because of her hair colour.

It's not the same as what POC experience in the US, but the prejudice exists and affects people's lives and it's pretty shitty of you to act like it doesn’t matter.

It's good actually that China arrested those women for writing slash fanfiction because slash writers are straighties who fetishise gay men, so they deserve to go to jail.

How ironic that fandom prides itself on being progressive and then say this kind of shit.

That pansexuality is just a tool to hurt women.
