What pot dealers do you know that are pushing heroin? The gateway thing is straight out of high school health class. Fungal spores and rat pee are probably the worst things you'll find in pot that's grown illegally. As for it being cut with other drugs, nobody's giving you free drugs. They will charge you for that.

NAYRT, but I know illegal growers in California (so probably elsewhere too) were using all kinds of banned pesticides, so there may also be even more gnarly than usual pesticide residue on/in illegal weed. My parents didn’t use pesticides on theirs, but then, they were old hippies.

Honestly you're right, but that doesn't mean that you aren't wrong.
Then again I knew a lot of dealers who's stuff was coated, meaning common chemicals and the such. It's just a thing that happens aside from the rat piss, and fungus. It'd give a different effect for those who didn't know what they were looking for (those who could be sold a joint at a dime's price) and also certain pesticides are used to keep the crop from being eaten, (much like gardening) especially in climates weed won't naturally grow. Some are purposeful, some aren't, but all are added without the buyers knowledge. They aren't about to add anything worthwhile, or serious like heroin and the likes, but that doesn't mean that it isn't contaminated.

Not every place is murrica and "homegrown" isn't the default everywhere, since like every plant, if has certain conditions to grow. And I know several people who went from pot to other, more harmful drugs through the same dealers. Just because you don't have the same experiences doesn't mean it doesn't exist and it's laughably naive to believe that.
And nobody said anything about it being cut with other drugs. Maybe smoke less pot if your reading comprehension is already suffering this much.
