The actress tried her best, but it just wasn't great material to work with in the first place. Everyone was still pissed off about Brewster and Cook being unceremoniously dumped, and then hiring a younger actress with a weak, slightly Mary Sue-flavored backstory to replace them? That was a bad call. It was awful that fandom took it out on the actress, though.
