I don't know anything about UK soaps, but it's hard not to see some of them as their soap characters. Kelli Giddish from L&O: SVU will always be Di the fake Dixie from All My Children to me.

...okay, so that's why she looks so familiar to me! I completely forgot about the whole "fake Dixie" thing on "All My Children" (which seems weird, given how much my mom was all about Dixie (and Tad) and any storylines related to them).

Wow. Blast from the past right there.

... SO THAT'S WHERE I KNEW HER FROM. I mean I could have just googled but I let it linger in my head as a 'huh why do I know her?' every time I saw her.

But I get it to an extent OP, there are a few actors I have trouble seeing in other roles because a part I saw them play left such an impression that it sticks to them no matter if the new character is nothing like the one I know them for.

Sometimes it's just like that.

You just get an actor set in your mind as a certain character and it's very difficult to think of them as a completely different one.

One of them, for me, is David Moscow, who has been in a few things (Newsies, Zoe, Duncan, Jack & Jane), but will probably always be that kid from Big (even though he wasn't on screen for very long in the movie).
