I enjoyed it, but I get why people don't. :)

Personally, I really like the movie, but to each their own, you know?

Also, whether you like the film or not, I feel like its existence is justified by the Vote Beeblebrox music video.

shrug I liked it

It was one of the worst book adaptations I have ever seen.

I didn't think it was too bad, definitely not as good as the six-part BBC series though.

This is so creepy, I was just watching the Lost in Adaptation mauling of this movie on YouTube just last night...

I'm completely unfamiliar with the book and have 0 interest in ever reading it, so I ended up enjoying it. It was a dumb, quirky scifi movie. Nothing to dislike, really.

I love the books, and I didn't hate the movie, but it's so aggressively mediocre. I know I watched it, but beyond that I almost never think about it. (Apart from the casting - love me some Mos Def, Sam Rockwell, and Alan Rickman.)

I thought it worked OK as a movie, just not as a good, straight adaptation of the book (never heard the radio show, so don't know how it hews to that). It also didn't feel British enough. I believe Douglas Adams was involved in the screenplay, so it's not like it got torn apart by someone who didn't understand it. I see it as just yet another variation on a story that's already been presented in multiple formats and doesn't need to be exactly the same each time because why should it?

Same here. It made sense for it to be unlike the book because there's already so many versions. I liked the movie.

I was so prepared to overlook any mild quibbkes.... couldn’t even finish it

I agree, OP. Love the book(s). Some of my favourite books. Douglas Adams was truly amazing. Hated the film. Just... no.
(Although Sam Rockwell was great, as usual).
