I'm not familiar with the context, & this seems like the kind of thing where the specific context is actually very important.

Yeah, even with canon ships the fanon characterization can be wildly off.

What specifically did Oh say? Because what I've seen of Killing Eve (up to the mid-way point of season 2, I only watch it with my sister and we don't get to hang out as much) is....um...hella gay.

She what now? :(
venusundae: ami looks curious (200 (such a way with words))

knowing how fandom can get sometimes, my first impression at her saying that makes me think "something it's not" is supposed to mean "healthy" rather than not at all homoerotic tbh. but idk honestly!

(Anonymous) 2019-07-09 11:55 pm (UTC)(link)
That was I was wondering too. Are we sure she was refering to the romantic/sexual aspect of the relationship ?

(Anonymous) 2019-07-10 12:12 am (UTC)(link)
+1 thats how i took it too. I kind of wondered whether others were projecting their insecurities cause no way is the show like that just to turn around and say “it’s not like that guise” about them

(Anonymous) 2019-07-10 01:20 am (UTC)(link)
Yeah. I'm NOT at all comfortable with the way fandom loses its collective fucking shit over the relationship when Villanelle is a *serial killer*, ffs. It's even worse than the Fannibals, even. (rolls eyes)

(Anonymous) 2019-07-10 01:25 am (UTC)(link)
"Is not a toxic relationship with serial killers and manipulators if is a gay relationship", did you knew that? (rolls eyes).

(Anonymous) 2019-07-10 01:28 am (UTC)(link)
Wait, I thought we liked toxic relationships on here and wanted people to be more comfortable with relationships that aren't idealized and wanted more dark, interesting, complex relationships

does that only count when it's ships that you personally like

(Anonymous) 2019-07-10 01:47 am (UTC)(link)
AYRT: Yes, we do and I also ship Hannigram as the dark, interesting and complex relationship they had, but I wouldn't call it a "sane relationship" like some fans try to.

(Anonymous) 2019-07-10 01:48 am (UTC)(link)
Not in the fandom but who the fuck gives a shit if one's a serial killer?

Fuck it, I was a huge L/Light fan from Death Note, which this series seems to be on par with. I couldn't give a rat's ass about a relationship being "healthy", I just want hot homoerotic pairings with a sharp dynamic.

(Anonymous) 2019-07-10 03:54 am (UTC)(link)
The moral police. We can't enjoy characters who are shitty people anymore. We can't ship them with other characters either. It's ~problematic~.

(Anonymous) 2019-07-10 01:39 am (UTC)(link)
Damn, I just watched a few episodes of this and loved it, but was expecting it to at some point go full lesbian. It's not? :( Boo..

(Anonymous) 2019-07-10 03:33 am (UTC)(link)
The serial killer is canonically wlw and sexually attracted to Eve. Half of the work is already done.

(Anonymous) 2019-07-10 04:19 am (UTC)(link)
Villanelle is at least bisexual-preferring-women and has sex (onscreen or in the past) with a number of women; all her meaningful romantic relationships are with women. No ambiguity at all. Eve seems generally straight, but is fascinated by Villanelle and the sexual aspects of that are definitely played up, but they are not in a relationship.

I am really disappointed. I have only watched season one but I loved the sexual and emotional chemistry between the women. I know they won't have a HEV but I really enjoy a good lesbian love story without it being tuned to a male eye.

I kept waiting for something else to come out after that, because I can't imagine a show that goes that explicit with the f/f would be like "yall delusional shippers".
