The author was replying to comments in February and I was commenting in June. I think the anon below is right about them just getting a little overwhelmed, because they did respond to a comment I made on a more recent story.

Honestly, at some point I kind of...stop replying to comments on older stories. It's not personal.

It just feels weird to me. I can't really explain it.

If the person has many, many stories up, they've probably moved on mentally. I'm sure they appreciate every comment.

I do try to respond to long ones.
