I ship Rhodey and Tony too. A lot.

Oh yes. Tony is awesome, especially in the hands of a good writer. Ever since Bucky came along (Buckeeeee!), I can't ship Steve with Tony anymore, so Tony/Rhodey is the obvious and awesome fallback. And Tony/Pepper. And threesomes. :D

I wish the writers had done more to be consistent with Tony (and everyone), and not gone off on wild tangents and ruined previous milestones and etc. Meh.

You dislike the character for the producers choosing to centralize the character's storyline? Can we call that Doylist? Seems a lot of people are Doylist in their dislike of the character, actually.

But boy, am I tired of this community running him down. It just seems so unnecessary.

It says that they don't dislike the character and that their issue is the taking over of everyone's stories. As such, it doesn't really matter where it's coming from, just that it exists at all.

Tony/Rhodey is SUCH a good ship OP, I wish there was more fic of them but alas.

But they've always been one of my favourite dynamics in the MCU, and the comics too honestly, they're just a really good bff pair who would do anything for each other and totally goad/enjoy each other's shit. They're great.

(I'm also here for Tony/Pepper/Rhodey OT3 as well because I love the idea of them as a romantic family unit as well as the platonic one they are in the films).

I don't ship Tony/Rhodey, but otherwise I agree with your secret. I fucking LOVE Tony, but they shoved him places he didn't need to be, made the story Tony-centric instead of, say, the title character-centric, & in general, made him less of a pleasure to watch. All of my Tony-related pleasure in the last couple of movies has been exclusively because of RDJs charm (whereas in older movies, it's the combo of RDJ's charm & Tony himself as a character). I definitely still love the hell out of Tony, but it's mostly from the older movies as opposed to the newer.

I like Rhodey and Tony friendship, but being a Jarvis/Tony shipper I have my own beef with AofU. I don't have any problem with him taking a central role in the movies as I don't have other faves in Avengers.
