Comparison between the two animated versions of The Lion King.

I have to say, the new version looks really really weird to me. Like it doesn't seem like the animals are singing. Almost uncanny valley.

Your thoughts?

The early reviews have been really positive so far. So I'm cautiously optimistic.

I've been thru Cats & Dogs, this will be a breeze.

This is the same problem I had with the cgi “live action” Beast—he had an almost expressionless face, worse than if they’d just covered the actor in heavy-duty prosthetics.

Except this isn’t just one character, it’s all of them. The animators could’ve had the animals emote more; while real animals don’t make all the same expressions humans do, they definitely make more than it looks like they do in the movie. And at least play with lighting and camera angles and stuff, sheesh.
